Alliance for Children and Families is honored to receive an award from the Urban Pastors and members of the Community of Alliance recognizing it as an extraordinary achiever. The Association conveyed its appreciation on the iconic day commemorating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. We are proud to work with the Urban Pastors Association in our efforts to reduce poverty and inequality. We share the vision that Alliance can be a better place for all of its citizens.
Saving Jobs Fights Poverty
ACF launched its newest weapon against poverty with its Alliance Corporate Employment Services (ACES). ACES helps local businesses retain employees in jobs with high turnover rates. Our services address a root cause of poverty – job loss due to a crisis at home or at work. For example, people who lack reliable transportation may have problems with tardiness. Without reliable, affordable childcare employees struggle to maintain steady attendance. Anyone going through major life traumatic events (death of a loved one, divorce, etc.) may need supports to help them manage their work requirements during the grieving process. We can provide services to help employees address those problems. Plus, it’s an ideal time to create a plan to prevent future problems like them. We have learned that employers are more willing to work through a temporary issue when they know the issue exists and the employee is addressing it.
A Success Story
ACES has been working with MAC Trailer for nearly two years. The company credits ACES with doubling its retention in high turnover jobs.
ACES staff assesses and works with most employees in their first 90 days of employment, which is a typical probationary period. However, it remains available to work with employees at a later time. Job retention is a long-term proposition. The unique value of ACES to employers is its commitment to intervene with employees during their length of employment. We don’t set an artificial deadline for its services tied to a probationary period.
